Hey there! My name is Krystal Everdeen & I create crochet tutorials on my YouTube channel. If you came from my video on how to crochet this skirt/ beach cover-up, welcome to my blog! And if you stumbled across my blog & are just discovering that I have a YouTube channel, also welcome! But just so you know, this diagram/ pattern us meant to be a supplemental resource for the video; it’s not really specific enough to be a full pattern on its own. So please refer to the video tutorial first, then use this post for additional guidance.
I didn’t realize until afterward that, not only did I make a few mistakes, but I was also crocheting very fast, so hopefully you find this diagram helpful. Each little tick symbolizes a triple crochet. The only things that are missing from the diagram are the single crochets, so I will further explain the pattern through text: Note* I messed up on the first row in the video. Instead of making 3 consecutive triple crochets like I did in the video, only make one, as shown in the diagram. So, the pattern should be: triple crochet one, chain one, skip two stitches, go into that third stitch, make a scallop- a scallop consisted of 8 triple crochets for me but you can make anywhere from 5-8 and it will look fine. After making a scallop, chain one, skip two stitches, go into the third stitch, make one triple crochet, chain one, make a scallop, and so on.
Second row: (Everyone is going to start off on different stitches, but the general pattern is the same) Make three consecutive triple crochets on top of every scallop, then chain two, reach over to the lone triple crochet you made in the previous row, create open shell stitch-consists of a triple crochet, followed by 3 chains, and another triple crochet made inside the same stitch. Then, chain two, reach over to the scallop you made in the previous row, make three consecutive triple crochets, chain two, reach over to the lone triple crochet from the previous row, create open shell stitch within it, and so on.
Third row: Make a lone triple crochet in middle of 3 consecutive triple crochets from previous row, chain two, reach over to open shell stitch in previous row and create a scallop within that opening. Chain two, reach over and create a lone triple crochet in the middle of the three consecutive triple crochets made in the previous row. So on.
Repeat.
Keep crocheting as many rows as it takes until you are satisfied with the length of the skirt. For my tutorial, I made a mini skirt, but you can surely continue on and on until you’ve made a maxi skirt as well! As with all of my tutorials, there is always room for customization.
